Engineered for
Performance

At GBC, we engineer advanced oxide ceramics with exacting batch control and micron-level precision. From forming to sintering to grinding, every step is handled in-house to deliver parts that meet the highest standards of consistency and performance.

Today, our materials are relied upon nationwide in critical systems where reliability isn’t optional and repeatability is paramount.

Alumina (Al₂O₃)

Our most widely used ceramic. Its exceptional hardness, electrical insulation, and thermal resistance make it a go-to for miniature mechanical, electronic, and wear applications.

Specs
  • Purities from 85% to 99.8%
  • ID down to 0.007", wall thickness as low as 0.010", lengths as short as 0.008" — all measured to ten-thousandths of an inch.
  • Ideal for high-volume, low-cost miniature parts (e.g., varactors)
  • Many alumina grades are metallizable, including our commonly used 96% composition, allowing easy integration
  • into electronic assemblies
  • Multi-cavity tooling enables fast production with consistent results

ZTA (Zirconia Toughened Alumina)

Combining zirconia’s toughness with alumina’s hardness, ZTA is a hybrid solution that delivers enhanced strength and crack resistance, with the added advantage of being more economical than pure zirconia.

Specs
  • Improved fracture resistance and mechanical strength
  • Used in cutting tools, pumps, biomedical parts and industrial wear applications
  • Offers improved reliability in high-stress environments

Beryllium Oxide (BeO)

A high-performance thermal conductivity ceramic used in electronics and microwave components, offering excellent heat dissipation with approximately 270 W/m·K thermal conductivity.

Specs
  • For use in power electronics, laser tubes, and RF systems
  • Low dielectric loss, high thermal conductivity
  • Offers superior thermal conductivity, making it excellent for heat sinks

Steatite (L-3, L-4, L-5)

A magnesium silicate ceramic prized for its excellent electrical insulation and mechanical stability.

Specs
  • Commonly used in electrical components and high-temperature insulators
  • Offers low dielectric loss and good thermal shock resistance
  • Available in multiple grades (L-3, L-4, L-5) tailored for specific performance needs

Fused Silica

An ultra-pure glass ceramic with extremely low thermal expansion and outstanding resistance to thermal shock.

Specs
  • Ideal for applications requiring dimensional stability under rapid temperature changes
  • Widely used in optics, semiconductor, and high-precision thermal equipment

Magnesia (MgO)

A ceramic material known for excellent electrical insulation at high temperatures and resistance to chemical corrosion.

Specs
  • Commonly used in refractory linings and thermocouple protection tubes
  • Offers high melting point and good thermal conductivity for harsh environments

Macor® – Machinable Glass Ceramic

Macor combines ceramic performance with the flexibility of machinability; no sintering required. Ideal for prototyping and production runs of any volume.

Specs
  • Machinable to tight tolerances using standard tools
  • Withstands continuous use up to 1,000°C
  • Electrically insulating and dimensionally stable
  • Used in aerospace, semiconductor, electronics and scientific applications
Whether you need tiny rings for electronic assemblies or complex shapes with multi-level tooling, GBC delivers parts with repeatable performance — from the first piece to full production.
